At Padnell Junior school we have chosen French as our main modern foreign language (MFL). All pupils will have access to French lessons and will have regular opportunities to hear, respond to and rehearse French within an encouraging and stimulating environment. They will listen to spoken language, answer questions, engage in conversations, express ideas and opinions.  They will explore the language through songs and rhymes, listen to stories and poems and develop pronunciation and intonation. As they progress through the school they will develop their ability to write phrases from memory and new sentences

We currently use the Rising Stars Euro Stars scheme, supplemented by different resources to cater for all learning styles, as our main teaching resource. Content is accessible to all members of the school community and celebrates children who are already multi-lingual. In addition, this academic year the school is trialing the teaching of British Sign language with our year three pupils.
